This is So Boring

Trying to keep away from Sushi....This was before it got boring.
I'm sure this was the first of many, many times that I will hear that phrase.  On Monday, the girls, Aunt Toni, Uncle Terry, and I went to Megan's house for a visit.  Considering that she moved to her new house in Apopka back at the beginning of last summer (I think), it was high time I got to her place.  Since Aunt Toni and Uncle Terry wanted to go there, it was the perfect opportunity.  I'm not going to lie...it's a bit of a drive, a good 45 minutes.  But it really wasn't that bad since we were in good company.  She has a very nice house and Sushi was for sure happy to see us!  The girls were a little reluctant at first to get in her way since she's so huge but then they started having Sushi chase them.  Well, after a bit, all the forms of entertainment were exhausted and Calleigh sat down on the coffee table and announced to all of us "This is so boring.  When are we going to go?"  I hope Megan didn't take offense.  A 3-year old just isn't entertained for very long.  Anyway, we did have a nice visit and then we left to go drop off Toni and Terry at the Baez's who would take them to the airport that evening.  Sad to see them go!

Sabbath was pretty much a typical day as far as church and nap.  Late in the afternoon, Toni and Terry arrived from Avon Park.  They ate supper with us and then David, Yully, Ron, and Elaine came over with the thought that we would play some games.  But we ended up just sitting around talking instead.  Calleigh bunked in with us for both the nights they were here since she napped both days which meant she would be up late.  And, indeed she was.  We both fell asleep at 11:30 on Saturday night.  Of course, that meant it was really 12:30 with the new time.  We pushed back our First Watch time until 9:00, instead of 8:30, because of the time change.  Thankfully, the girls adjusted to the new time pretty easily.  After First Watch, Calleigh begged to go to the Farmer's Market which we did.  On the way back, I made Duncan swing by a recycling dumpster I had spotted next to a school on Friday while yard sale-ing.  You know what dumpsters are good for?  Coupons!!  Many people throw out their coupon inserts with their papers and sure enough, I found 4 inserts in about 5 minutes of searching.  Those coupon inserts are money in your pocket so I was pretty pleased with myself.  The nice thing about dumpster diving for coupons is that the recycling dumpsters are just for paper only so they aren't gross or anything (not that it would stop me even if it was gross..I don't think).  Since I had the whole crew with me, I didn't want to stay any longer than we did but my coupon buddy, Jennifer, and I made plans to go diving next Sunday.

Toni did that thing with them where you stack your hand on someone's else hand and then throw them up in the air on three.  They loved it and so she got stuck doing it many, many times.

While the girls and Duncan were sleeping (and Toni and Terry went to David and Yully's), I made my rounds to CVS and Walgreen's and then couldn't resist going to Publix for another round.  I told Duncan that I felt like a failure this time because unlike Friday when my groceries cost me a negative $5 something, this time they cost me $4.  So for $104, I got $100 in gas gift cards and $74 worth of groceries.  I think I was finally making an impression on Uncle Terry.  Maybe next time he's here, he'll go dumpster diving with me!

Sunday evening we all headed to Ron and Elaine's for sandwich night and had some delicious strawberries that Toni and Terry had gotten at the Farmer's Market.  Ron and Elaine are actually up at Andrews right now.    They are doing consulting for Griggs (an SDA online academy and university) which recently got purchased by Andrews.

Monday afternoon I had a meeting at work so Elaine came over.  Calleigh actually took a nap with her here so I was pleasantly surprised by that.  I have ceased to try and predict when she'll nap and when she won't.  Aubree, thankfully, is incredibly predictable.  She naps every single day and falls asleep in like 60 seconds flat.

On to Tuesday, ah yes, Tuesday.  So Monday evening, I started thinking to myself, "Boy, I haven't felt the baby making big movements any more like he used to.  What's going on?"  Of course, it's possible he was doing it and I just wasn't paying attention.  But for whatever reason, I was thinking about it then and I didn't notice much going on.  I did feel some small stuff before going to bed.  Tuesday morning, I felt a little something around 8 but then nothing for a few hours.  I was pressing and moving my stomach around and then started doing jumping jacks and contorting my body in uncomfortable ways in an attempt to get him to make any sort of movement, anything at all.  Nothing.  So I started getting just a little paranoid.  I consider myself to be a pretty un-panicky person so I didn't want to overreact but I thought I should call the doctor just in case.  I had gone on-line and it said if you don't feel anything for several hours, you should call your doctor.  I did at 10:30 and talked to a nurse.  She said she could fit me in at 2:00.  I told her I wasn't one to overreact to things (I didn't want her to think I was some loony, worried mother-to-be who freaks about everything) so if she thought waiting that long was fine than I would go with it.  She said she'd check again and then she said I could come in at 11.  Obviously things worked out or the nature of this blog would be much different but I just thought it was very surprising that they would have someone wait that long to come in.  I mean, I'm sure in the majority of the cases, everything is fine but I'm certain there are a few cases where there is something seriously wrong and every minute could count.  Anyway, I called Duncan to meet me there to get the girls.  They took me back as soon as I arrived and hooked me up to a fetal monitor.  I immediately heard and saw the heartbeat which was in the 150's so that was very reassuring.  She kept the monitor on for 20 minutes and I had to press a button each time he moved.  And yup, you guessed it.  As soon as he was hooked on to that, he started moving a lot.  I counted 21 times in the 20 minutes.  She left me alone in the room during that time so I quickly called Duncan to tell him all seemed to be fine and he was very relieved, obviously.  He said it was the longest 20 minutes of his life from the time I initially called him until I gave him that news.  The nurse had the doctor review the printout and he said all looked well so off I went.  Alls well, that ends well.  Of course, I've still been paying very close attention to the movements and he has been moving but there's not been any big things like I had been feeling.  But I'm sure that's just how it goes.  I'm hoping this means he's going to be a calm one!

Unfortunately that little outing meant we missed storytime but we still went to the library to get our new books.  Afterwards we made a quick stop at Walmart so I could get a new mini filing cabinet for downstairs.  I had outgrown my old coupon filing system and it was time to step it up a notch.  Much better!  After nap time, we zipped over to the post office to send off Duncan's iPad.  He sold it on eBay with the thought of purchasing one of the new models.  Selling it was quite an experience (the scammers are unbelievable) but it eventually worked out.  Of course, the iPads are all sold out for at least several weeks and now he's not even sure if he wants that or something else.  The problem is that he doesn't have his Kindle any more either so I've been teasing him about having to read books the old fashion way again!

After supper, my friend Jennifer came over so that Duncan and I could help her with creating a blog for her new business venture which is selling her cookies, cakes, etc.  She is an excellent baker (is that what you would call it?) and I think she's going to be very good at it.  I'll say more about it once it's up and running so you can check it out.  As a special treat, she brought over chocolate lava cake (just like the chocolate melting cake on Carnival) and it was SO delicious.  If I closed my eyes, it was like I was on the cruise again, minus the raccoon eyes.

Today we met some friends at the playground and had a picnic.  Calleigh played VERY hard for a good hour but no nap.  As I said, I've stopped predicting it.  I had come up with the idea last week of putting the egg timer in her room and when it goes off, she can come downstairs.  I had come up with that as a way to perhaps get her to stop coming to the top of the stairs to shout down "When can I come down there?" every 10 minutes.  It worked very well last week especially since she ended up napping pretty much every day and I'd have to creep into her room in time to shut it off before it beeped and woke her up.  The only problem with the timer is that it's only 60 minutes and often times, it takes longer than that for her to fall asleep.  Usually she's call me up to use the bathroom again or for some other reason and I'll push the time back.  Thank goodness she hasn't figured out yet why I'm touching it or she might get mad that I'm making the time longer!

Aubree always interprets having to say cheese as meaning you should scrunch up your face and look the other way.  Every time!
In closing, a little Calleigh tidbit.  This morning she was climbing up the stairs with a big box of toys in her hand.  I told her that she shouldn't go up the stairs with that and to leave it there for me to bring up.  So she says to me "No, Mom, it's okay.  God is with me.  He won't let me fall down."  What can I say to that?

I noticed the "she" comment too. Freudian slip I am sure! Corey, I would go in the trash for coupons too! Charlie used to go down to Tedeschi's (like a 7-11) on Sunday evenings and ask the workers down there is he could have the coupon inserts from the papers that didn't sold. That worked pretty well! Can't wait to see you!
