| It was a struggle just to get her to put on the dress so I had to just let her do the socks with sandals bit. Yikes! |
Ever since I got a really bad case of the flu back in 2004 (in which I would have been happy to just die, at least it felt like it at the time), I've said to myself and sometimes other, "Don't ever take your health for granted." Honestly, we really don't know how good we have when we have good health. Not that this cold was anything as bad as having the flu that one time but being sick just stinks. It really does. And, of course, there are millions of people that are in a WAY worse condition than having a measly cold and to those people, I'm really sorry. We should be more appreciative of what we have and really, we should be taking better care of ourselves to begin with. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox. The bottom line is that I'm just really happy to be feeling like my old self again and that the girls aren't coughing any more.
Wednesday found us still somewhat quarantining ourselves from friends so we did a stop at Walgreens (where I scored a bunch of things with minimal outlay) and then on to Phelps Park. Calleigh still had a little cough remaining (which probably wasn't even contagious any more) but I told her to not talk to anyone while we were there just in case. She vowed she wouldn't but I could see how hard it was for her. She stared at some little girls for the longest time and then finally, she came and said to me, so pleadingly, "Please, Mom, can I just talk to that one girl?" I don't remember what I said but the little girl had run off in another direction by then anyway.

| Calleigh's response to my saying we had to leave was to run as far away as possible. Thankfully I'm reading Dr. James Dobson's book on dealing with the strong willed child so hopefully I'll have these situations remedied very soon. |
Thursday was our usual grocery day and off to Publix we went. Now let me say that the day before, when we went to Walgreens and the playground, I had donned my cute little backpack that I had gotten at the yard sale last month. When I put my wallet in it, I said to myself "Now Corey, DO NOT forget to put your wallet back in the diaper bag after this trip." Well, I guess you know where this is going. Yup, I got to the checkout at Publix and sure enough, no wallet. The terribly sad thing is that I had specifically gone into the backpack that morning and moved all the things out of it back into the diaper bag. I mean, the backpack is only so big. Clearly, my brain was not functioning at 100%....or more likely than not, I was disrupted during the transfer by some shenanigans of Calleigh's. Yeah, I'll go with that. So back home we rushed and there was the wallet sitting right there in the backpack. In my defense, the backpack lining is black and so is the wallet so it blended right in. Despite all that, it was a good trip to Publix as they had Special K cereal on sale, Buy One, Get One Free or in couping terms, B1G1. Since I had some B1G1 coupons, I got four boxes of cereal for $0. I'm going to have to print some more coupons from different computers and go get some more.
Today we did yard sale-ing and it was sure nice to be back on the horse. It's a little slow right now just after the holidays but we were able to get a few books and a shirt and dress for Aubree. We also made a stop at Target to get a couple of things and I couldn't help myself; I bought even more wrapping paper since it was now 90% off. Aubree was as happy as a pig in the mud because she got to ride in the "big girl" seat again. The last time I was at Walmart with both the girls (which was before Christmas), we had a really long wait at the register and so Aubree had moved down into the "big girl" seat section of the cart (I think I mentioned on here how they were singing Christmas carols). Well, she obviously remembered that because yesterday when I got the cart at Walmart, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with sitting in her regular seat. She MUST sit with Calleigh in the other seats. The crummy thing about the Walmart seats is that the straps/seat belts are broken. It's not a big deal with Calleigh but for a 19-month old, I wanted her strapped in. Since that couldn't happen, Calleigh said that she would take the outside seat to "protect Aubree." I thought that was very sweet. Anyway, Aubree thoroughly enjoyed sitting there so I guess it all worked out. The one in Target today had working straps so I was even more happy with the situation.

This evening we had Aunt Lori, Uncle Charlie, Chuck and Millie (Uncle Charlie's parents), and Megan over for supper. The Cases are down here for a week at their time share. It was a very nice visit and I know the girls love having people over. Aubree, as her usual, was very captivated with a man - - Uncle Charlie in this case. We just can't figure out why she likes men more then women.
 |
| After the meal was over, I left the food on the table for Megan who was coming from work. Aubree spotted Calleigh's plate with some leftover food and insisted on eating from it. So yup, she sat at the table for like 10 or 15 minutes by herself, eating another meal. |
 |
| Uncle Charlie drew the card of having to share his dessert with Aubree. He said every time she wanted another bite she would look at him and say "Hi." |
That's it for now. I'll end with a few pictures.
 |
| They found working flashlights and decided to go on a treasure hunt. Not sure that the cabinet with my cleaning supplies was the best option... |
 |
| Calleigh did NOT want to share the pack-n-play with Aubree's baby but she finally figured out they could both fit if they were in a sitting up position. |
 |
| Aubree finally agreed to play the patient. |
 |
| Calleigh had climbed up onto the coffee table so, of course, Aubree wanted to get up too. She finally made it and shouted out "Mommy, I did it!" I kid you not. |
 |
| My little cutie still sporting the crown. A small part of it broke tonight so the crown era may finally be drawing to a close. |

We had a wonderful visit. And of course Uncle Charlie was in seventh heaven with Aubree's attention. Thank you so much for the lovely meal.
Thanks for the updates.
