Since Calleigh and I don't have quite as much "Mommy and Calleigh time" like we used, I'm trying to use the time wisely that we do have. This week, I started to have Calleigh cook with me. Aubree has been napping in the late afternoons so we have some uninterrupted time for Calleigh and I to make supper. For Christmas, Duncan had gotten her a little red apron that matched mine and this was the first time she tried it on. I think she thought it was pretty neat to match Mommy. Our first undertaking was lasagna. Anything that involves cheese, is very exciting for her and this was no exception. Fortunately she was able to stop eating the cheese long enough to put some in the baking dish. I had her place the provolone cheese just so and she did a pretty good job of lining it up, I must say. Later in the week, we made pumpkin chili. Of course, her little finger kept finding its way into the bowl whenever I would turn my back and I can officially state that she likes kidney beans and pumpkin pie filling. I have found that it takes a little bit longer to put things together but it's well worth it!Today Aubree is one month old and I'm ecstatic to report that she slept last night from 11:30 to 5:50. She probably would have slept even longer than that but I had to wake her up because I was starting to become very uncomfortable if you know what I mean. She was moving around though a little so I think she was going to wake up very soon. Anyway, I couldn't believe she slept all that time. On Tuesday night, she had gone just about five hours and I was so happy with that. This is even better. And I must say, for all the times I've raved about Calleigh being a great sleeper, she wasn't sleeping this long of a stretch until at least two months. So fingers crossed that this continues. Of course, I didn't sleep that whole entire time because I kept waking up and wondering what the hey was going on. She would make periodic noises so I knew she was still alive. But I must have gotten some extra sleep because I'm not too tired this afternoon - - hence writing on this blog rather than napping.

Speaking of Aubree and sleeping, yesterday morning is when I really wanted her to be sleeping and she wasn't. I had a dentist appointment at 10:30 and I decided to take her with me while leaving Calleigh with Elaine. Aubree usually sleeps most of the morning so I figured yesterday would be no exception. Wrong. About 10 minutes after arriving, while we were still in the waiting room, she woke up and started crying. Go figure. After a bit of a long wait, in which she didn't go back to sleep, I was called in. I put Aubree back in her car seat and tried to rock it with my foot while I was reclined in the chair but she just kept bawling. I felt so helpless. Thank goodness one of the ladies at the front desk came and offered to pick her up. I heard her crying off and on for a little while, in which I was very stressed (I hate bothering people as you know), and then wondrous silence. She had fallen asleep on the lady's bosom. So I may not be happy with my veneers but hey, at least they take care of your crying baby. Needless to say, she will not be going with me to my next cleaning in September.

On Tuesday, we gave Aubree her first bottle. I had given Calleigh hers at the 4-week mark which worked out well so we followed that same plan. You don't want to do it too soon and not too late either. I was a little concerned because she has such a hard time with binkys but she took it without a problem. Of course, Calleigh had to be part of the action and I was glad there was something she could help with.
For other activities this week, we've been to story time, Target, and Calleigh has spent the last two mornings with her grandparents while I went to the aforementioned dentist and today, Walmart. It's funny about story time. Just about whenever someone asks Calleigh what she did today, she always says she went to story time even though we only go once a week. So most of the time she didn't go that day.
A few other tidbits:
- Calleigh has figured out how to use the spray bottle that I use on
her hair. So she spent a good part of the day spraying anything and everything including Aubree and me. Needless to say, the spray bottle miraculously disappeared later that day and hasn't been seen since. She has asked about a couple of times but fortunately hasn't made a big stink when I tell her we aren't going to be using it. - She on a kick with smelling things. She asks me all the time, "Do you want to smell it?" and then after she smells it herself, she says "It smells like fruit." She says that no matter what it is...rash ointment, the spray bottle, etc.
- We are counting down the days until Wednesday. We're going up north to visit the family and will get to see Camden for the first time. We in this case being Calleigh, Aubree, Shannon, and I. We can't wait!
- We still haven't decided on a stroller but I've been getting some good feedback from some friends that have them so I'm hoping a decision is imminent.
That's it. Have a good weekend!
