The last few days have been torturous waiting for the word from our new lender about the appraisal. The appraisal itself was done on Monday morning at 10:30. I was hoping to get word yesterday. Finally, around 5:00 pm yesterday, the lender called Duncan to say it wasn't done yet but the appraiser said it was looking good. That was enough to start getting my hopes up. This morning the lender called again to tell Duncan he was feeling very positive and there should be word by early afternoon. I was on pins and needles...checking my phone every few minutes to make sure the ringer was on, etc. I felt like a chick waiting for some guy to call her. Ring, phone, ring. Three o'clock rolled around and I decided on my own that "early afternoon" was officially over and did this mean something bad that we hadn't heard anything yet? Our realtor texted me around 3:30 to ask if had heard news and receiving my "no" said she was going to call the lender herself. Then she didn't call text or call back which made me wonder even more. Ahhhh! I felt like I was in major limbo because I didn't know if I should be packing up the rest of our stuff in a way to last me for a few days or if I was going to be packing up long term (like three or four weeks).
Finally, finally, at 5:27 our realtor called again and told me the appraisal was in and it had appraised for $1,300 more than our contract price. Hallelujah!! I could have cried right there if I wasn't frantically trying to make PB&J's for the kids because we had to leave for Adventurers. That is clearly a major swing from the last appraisal and just goes to show you how subjective they really are. We don't really know any other details yet but we will be closing some time next week, hopefully sooner than later. But no matter. We are just so relieved to know that it will really be our house after all.
